Dress: Band of Gypsies
Booties: GUESS (old)
Bag: Irene’s Story (old)
In case you haven’t noticed, the ‘90s are officially back. Chokers, mini backpacks and platform shoes—it’s seriously my childhood dream come true. Though, one of the biggest trends I’ve seen returning to the street-style world is the slip-dress-and-t-shirt look.
Since I spotted it on my favorite celebs and bloggers, I wanted to try it, but hadn’t found a slip dress that quite worked. That is, until I stumbled upon this crushed velvet and lace number by Band of Gypsies (exclusively at Bloomingdales). I immediately went on the hunt for a t-shirt to layer underneath, and found this one at Zara, which is definitely one of the best places for basics.
I love this look because it’s both comfortable and chic. It turns something that, at first glance, could look like lingerie into a completely wearable outfit. I wore it for a night out in Hollywood, but I feel like it could easily work during the day or even at the office if your dress code is a little more on the casual side. When the temperatures cool down, I plan on trying it with a long-sleeve tee, or a turtleneck if I’m feeling a little daring. And of course, the slip dress alone is great for date night or even a swanky holiday party.
What do you think of this ‘90s-inspired trend? Let me know in the comments!
